There are a series of common problems that game development educators face:

1. Educators find themselves spending the entire class time teaching remedial steps (“click here, then click here”), not having enough time to cover the essential theories and concepts of what it means to make a game.

2. Students are required to purchase expensive textbooks that are difficult to follow and become quickly outdated.

3. Educators finding the time and resources to stay current with new software.

E-Learning tools, such as those offered by design3, allow instructors to maximize class time by offering over 1,000 easy-to-follow, result oriented tutorials. Students can learn at their own pace and come to class prepared to learn theory. The high definition streaming expert training replaces textbooks with an budget-friendly service that’s up-to-date and available 24/7.

Nearly 50 universities and colleges are currently using design3 in lieu of textbooks. In this session, three case studies will be presented that illustrate the successful implementation of design3's tools:

Case Study 1: Columbia College, Chicago

Case Study 2: Central Piedmont Community College, North Carolina

Case Study 3: Wilmington College, Delaware
